We created four moodboards for each space in Japandi style, inviting our followers to vote for their favourite. Here are the three winning moodboards: After selecting the moodboards, we translated each one into ideas for the giveaway house. Below, you can see the moodboards with the most votes, along with the visual concept for the dollhouse. We've developed the ideas in the giveaway house using existing furniture and wallpaper, as well as designing new items and wallpaper. Here's a closer look at the house: We'll explore the house in more detail, along with insights into our decision-making process. First, let's see the living room: In the living room, we opted for a single-colored back wall, aiming for a special wall with texture and a built-in shelf. We chose organic shapes with shelves in an arch for displaying accessories. For the living room, we selected a modular sofa where each section can be arranged according to your preference. Jeanine from Little Sissy created the cushions on the sofa, and the ottoman also comes from her shop. The armchair and side table are new designs crafted specifically for this house. The color palette includes sandstone texture, matte pale brown, matte brown beige, elm, cream white, and bronze. The right wall features the 'Mountains' wallpaper. In the kitchen, the tall handle-less cabinets dominate the back wall, housing a built-in oven, microwave, and a coffee machine with a cabinet for mugs above. The left wall is adorned with the 'Stone Organic Brown' wall covering. The kitchen island with wooden slats stands in the middle of the space, featuring a sink with a faucet and a cooktop. On one side, you can sit on bar stools, while the other side has a cabinet for beautiful items or, as we did, for cookbooks. The bedroom is located in the drawer at the bottom of the house. It's a smaller space, so we had to be clever with the layout. There was already a staircase in the space, and we managed to fit a double bed with a bedside table next to it. In the other corner, we placed a crib because, in a dollhouse, there should also be little ones. The bedding is crafted by Jeanine from Little Sissy. The bear poster and the box underneath also come from her webshop, along with the cozy woven rug and wall stickers. While light houses are common nowadays, such a dark atmosphere beautifully suits the winter. We initiated the project by crafting a moodboard, focusing on four key words: moody, dark, rustic, and romantic.Moody - an interior evoking intense emotions, a dark ambiance.Dark - an interior featuring various dark shades.Rustic - an interior incorporating raw materials like concrete, wood with a pronounced grain, and the use of animal hides.Romantic - an interior with cozy corners using warm materials and fabrics, warm brown tones, and light sources such as a fireplace and candles.Our process always starts with flooring and wall coverings to grasp the overall atmosphere. Choices can differ from initial plans, blending warmth and coolness, like a warm floor next to a cool wall or vice versa.In the kitchen, a brown-orange limestone wall complements various red and brown tones. To accentuate the color, we incorporated plants in the decoration.Furniture and accessories were designed with diverse materials for depth, featuring wood grain in the table and shelf, and transparent and black materials for glassware. The kitchen and dining chairs also showcase two different materials: black and matte black.Creating a massive bookshelf was a delight. We used existing and curated books, adding vases and plants for dynamism. Special hanging plants were crafted for this house, with some sections featuring wood panels and built-in lights for emphasis.Instead of a standard living room, we created multiple seating areas around the fireplace. Our modern take on a Memphis Style home. Characteristic of this style are vibrant colors, geometric patterns, and a fusion of various art influences. Playful, eclectic, and daring.This was our first house with functional lamps, adding an extra dimension. The entire back wall is a (dark) brick wall. Extra-long wall shelves provide ample space for art and accessories. The rug is punchy, and the modular sofa intentionally features multiple colors.The dining room has a softer look, with attention drawn to the large painting on the back wall, created from an existing photo. Bright blue chairs complement the trio of brown tones deliberately chosen for a dynamic ensemble. The dinnerware comes in various transparent colors.In the bathroom, terrazzo takes center stage, a trend revived from the 1950s. Bronze hues reappear in metal accessories. Specifically designed for this house, we crafted standing washbasins and geometric faucets. The trolley serves as a practical storage solution for everyday items. The rug is once again hand-punched.We opened up the dividing wall, opting for an arch that leads to the bedroom. In the bedroom, we embraced a riot of colors and patterns. This page provides more information about our process and our products. Design Everything starts with an idea. This can be our own, something we've seen or from a customer. The first step is to convert this idea into a 3D model on a computer. We pay special attention to make sure the scale is correct and the design is not only easy on the eyes, but also functional. Then, the design is transferred to our 3D printer, which will create the first prototype. More often than not, the design will need to be tweaked before it meets our quality requirements. Only then will it be added to the webshop. Do you have ideas or would you like to see something made for you? Please let us know via email of instagram. We will take a shot at designing and printing it for you and add it to our webshop if it works out. Material Our furniture is manufactured using a 3D printer from polyactide (PLA) which is body friendly and biodegradable. This makes it a renewable alternative for other types of plastic. It is also slightly flexible and will deform elastically if a force is applied so it will survive most falls. However, pieces can still break off if it lands the wrong way. A printed item is slightly flexible, so it can give a little bit when pressure is exerted on it or when it falls. The furniture can handle moderate bumps, but if an item falls from great heights or lands unfortunate pieces can break off. The scale also plays a role. The 1:12 furniture, for example, is larger and sturdier. However, you should always handle the furniture with care. Our products are not intended for children. Printing Some pieces of furniture take over 12 hours to complete since printing happens layer upon layer. You're probably able to make out the layers if you look closely at one of our pieces of furniture. The Colours page features an overview of all the available colours and you can also order a colour chart. Even though there are already a lot of colours to choose from, we are always happy to add new colours, so don't hesitate to contact us if the colour you would like isn't listed. Ordering You can look at all of our products in our webshop. You can make your furniture highly personal by choosing your own colours, sizes and, for some designs, mutiple models and by combining furniture and accessories. This is the reason everything is made to order and why it takes some time (1-4 weeks) before we can ship your products, even a simple chair easily takes three hours to print. We will notify you up front if it is busy and give you a clear indication of the expected delivery time. I'm a specialist gifted children in primary education for two days a week. I run DollhouseDesign together with my husband next to my `regular` job. To support us with our activities we employ multiple employees. How it all started I bought a second-hand dollhouse for my three year old daughter's birthday in October 2017. I started learning how to use a 3D-printer after my husband proposed to buy one. It became my hobby to create miniatures of furniture and accessories I saw around me. The ball really started rolling when I started posting photos to Instagram and in October 2018 my hobby became my job: DollhouseDesign was born.Designing new products All miniatures have been designed and drawn by me using 3D drawing software.
